From kids checking out on their mobile phone, to older customers who love to chat at the register - our design catered for the whole family and helped Kmart's customers have a seamless shopping experience. Working with Kmart we designed a new checkout experience that catered for the needs of its diverse customer base.
Great design begins with understanding the customer. We spent hundreds of hours talking, interviewing, mapping and surveying customers and staff on site. It was a deep understanding from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective that lead to the right solution.
How do you change a system that is already running? How do you make it better without diminishing the business in any other way. We outlined a strategy to augment the current system helping it to grow in the ways that both the customers and business’ needed it too. How do you then build such a system? Our implementation plan gave a clear way forward for the practical implementation of the new world leading checkout system.
What do these tools practically look like? How will people use them, where and when? We designed a software application to help staff and customers become more mobile in the retail business.
